New WMO report highlights extreme heat record for Europe

The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and EU Copernicus just released evidence of a record number of days with extreme heat stress in Europe. The “European State of the Climate Report 2023 (ESOTC). The report illustrates that Europe has been warming twice as fast as the global average, becoming the fastest-warming continent on Earth.

For the future, results suggest more frequent heat waves, changes in precipitation patterns, increases in extreme rainfall and drought events in Europe. Besides, the report also discusses the adverse health impacts of extreme weather and related climate events.
