On 20 June 2025, colleagues from partners Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) and the University of Copenhagen published their article, “Field and farm-level data on agricultural land use for the European Union” published in Scientific Data.
As a part of Europe-LAND, Clemens Jänicke, Kristoffer Ansbak Petersen, Phillip Schmidts, Daniel Müller, and Martin Rudbeck Jepsen published this new dataset of field- and farm-level land-use data from the Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS). This IACA data covers covers 19 EU countries with up to 17 years of annual data including crop codes, farm identifiers, and organic cultivation status. The authors provided an overview of the data sources, as well as an outline of the pre-processing and harmonization workflow, as well as providing maps that help to visualize both coverage and potential analyses. With access to this data, researchers, policymakers, and other sustainable agriculture stakeholders can analyze land-use changes and changes in farming practices.
