In April, Europe-LAND’s WP4 team led by Lucie Kupkova and Khalil Gholamnia at partner, Charles University, hosted a technical workshop focused on improving access to and use of land use and land cover change (LUCC) modelling tools. The event introduced stakeholders to two major project outputs which are now available on Zenodo:
- A comprehensive LUCC modelling tool database
- A new set of open-access educational modelling cards and complementary success stories, designed to simplify comparison of existing tools
The modular modelling cards span five key domains: Land Use/Land Cover, Climate, Hydrology, Forest, and Biodiversity, and serve as a resource for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners. Each card provides a concise overview of a specific tool, while accompanying success stories offer practical insights into how the tools have been implemented in real-world research and policy contexts.
During the workshop, team members from the University of Latvia and the Romanian Academy also presented national case studies, illustrating how modelling can support sustainable land use decisions.
Together, these resources aim to improve transparency, comparability, and capacity in LUCC modelling practices across Europe and beyond. Find out more by visiting our Zenodo page: https://zenodo.org/records/15550126.
