The team includes Prof. Valdo Kuusemets, Dr. Anton Shkaruba, Dr. Henri J\u00e4rv, Dr. Janar Raet, Dr. Olha Aleksandrova, and Raul R\u00e4mson (The photo does not include all members).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EMU team possesses strong <strong>expertise in GIS and spatial data analysis <\/strong>and has conducted research that integrates environmental science, management, and policy. Their work places particular emphasis on the application of remote sensing techniques to understand human and ecosystem dynamics, landscape and biological diversity, and on the development of effective management and policy solutions for landscape and biodiversity conservation. Further areas of focus include the study of cultural landscapes and their evolution at the interface between cultures and ecosystems, climate change adaptation, community resilience, and nature-based solutions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within the Europe-LAND project, EMU leads Work Package 5.3, which focuses on <strong>comparative studies of land use drivers and transitions across Europe<\/strong>. In addition, EMU is responsible for organizing the Europe-LAND Summer School in 2026.
